Champak Bansal is a small businessman in Udaipur who goes to any lengths to fulfill his only daughter, Tarika’s, dreams. Though the theme isn’t extraordinary, this movie has a natural flow with an essay of emotions that you can easily associate with. The father-daughter relationship portrayed is tender and delicate, and oh watching Irrfan Khan perform as a wonderful, selfless father, such pain and pleasure!

simple, a heart-warming movie that delicately tackles a very important topic with grace. Yes, that’s exactly what this movie is. It revolves around Sonam Kapoor’s Sweety Chaudary coming out of her typical Indian family. Still, it manages to delicately weave in the journey of a father, Anil Kapoor’s Balbir Chaudary, from a conservative father to a refined man who accepts and loves his daughter the way she is.
Thappad throws light on the armor that every daughter is born with; her father. Amu, in her battles, never felt weak or mistaken because her father walked with her at every step, making her believe in accepting nothing less than what she thinks she deserves. He felt the pain that rushed inside her; he felt shattered by her disrespect, he was at ease when she slept in peace, he smiled when she laughed, such is the feeling that defines the relation of every daughter and her hero.
