A lot of common questions about hotels and accomodation in Bali are answered in our FAQs. For a complete overview of our Bali Travel Guide with lots of sightseeing suggestions and travel tips please go to our start page. Choose where to stay! Sanur is a well established, but quiet tourist place, very suitable for families or others seeking comfortable surroundings without too much noise and night life. Sanur has a white sand beach where swimming is safe, but only possible at high tide. Nusa Dua is a tourist area on the most southern tip of the island. Unlike Kuta or Sanur, Nusa Dua was never a normal village or town but was planned and developed in the 1980s in a previously uninhabited area of the island as an upmarket tourist enclave. The hotels in Nusa Dua are all in the four to five star category and most of them offer spacious landscaped gardens with artificial lakes, lagoons, palm groves, etc. Tanjung Benoa is a fishing village with a normal infrastructure. The resorts are located on the beach Kuta
is
the oldest and most lively tourist place (which means a lot of boisterous
nightlife with all the accompanying effects). There are a lot of lower
middle class properties but also a number of very elegant and luxurious
ones (most of them located on the northern extension of Kuta beach, Legian
Beach, for instance the famous Bali Oberoi.) Kuta and Legian beach are
not
ideal places for swimming, because the undercurrent and the surf can
be quite strong.
Tuban
is a dark sand beach south of Kuta where a lot of middle and upper middle
class properties are located. Good for families.
The
nicest beach on Bali is Jimbaran Beach. The very beautiful, but
extremely expensive Four Seasons Hotel is located here as well as the newly
built Ritz Carlton.
On
the east cost of the island you find the little town Candi Dasa.
Candi Dasa has no natural beach, but it is a very good starting place for
sightseeing
excursions to Pura Besakih, Tirtta Gangga or a trip to Amed
beach.for snokelling.
In
Ubud
a lot of smaller hotels and homestays can be found downtown and a
number of very luxurious resorts just outside of Ubud. Most of them are
settled in landscaped gardens on the hillside with spectacular views of
the river and the rice terraces, for instance the Amandari or the Four
Seasons Ubud. The town is quite interesting and has to important museums,
see Sightseeing
in Ubud.
Along the north coast tourism is less established, which makes it an especially charming area, but there are already a small number of hotels, most of them located near Singaraja on Lovina Beach. (See our Map of Bali). The beaches in the north of Bali are all black (volcanic sand). There are good diving grounds in the north. A further attraction are dolphin watching, or visits to the temples of Northern Bali. Do you have a question about one of the hotels? Please send us an e-mail! We offer secure, real time online booking for hotels in Hong Kong, Bali, Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai & Northern Thailand. Our primary hotel partner is Travelnow. Their server checks availability and rate real time in a hotel reservation system that is based on SABRE and Apollo (operated by our partner TravelNow), and returns the results. (This may take a minute or two; you can continue browsing hotel descriptions while you wait.) If you like the rate offered, you are taken to a reservation form where you can enter your name and other details. This absolutely secure; all data are encrypted with Netscape`s Secure Commerce Server. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail within 60 seconds! No advance payment is necessary; you pay after your stay in the hotel at check-out. Reservations can be cancelled free of charge either via Internet or by phoning the hotel (the phone number is provided in your e-mail confirmation) within the cancellation period (afterwards a penalty applies; usually one night`s room rate.) Other Agencies The procedure described above is our "standard" booking option. For some hotels, there are also other travel agencies (Accomline, Planetholiday, Bali1) that offer attractive rates. If this is the case, we mention it in the detailed property description (along with a link to their site, of course!) |
