Shopping
Chiang Mai is very famous for its quality handicrafts (See our Shopping Tour Excursion). Silverware, lacquerware, silks, ceramics, etc. can be bought in large shopping emporia (the boring alternative), at the Night Market in Chang Klang Road (more interesting), or directly at the workshops or studios where they are produced - it has the advantage that you can also watch the artisans at work and get an impression of the manufacturing techniques. Thai Cuisine is very spicy and includes curries, stir-fried dishes, interesting salads (e.g. a salad made of pomelo with shrimps), and of course many rice and noodle dishes. Lanna specialties are spicy pork sausages and and other pork dishes, served with sticky rice. Thai Vegetables |
